GOOD FORM: Library Bars
/SPOTTED:
A growing culture of library bars in hotels all over the country, from The Library at The NoMad to The Study at the Modern Honolulu, where the bookshelf swings open to reveal a hidden bar at night.
JILL'S FAVE:
The Library Bar at Hudson Hotel (of course), where she often stays in NYC, and which recently launched The Assouline Book Collection, bringing a curated collection of photography books from the worlds of art, fashion, travel and design to the space. (Jill will be drinking a dirty gin martini with olives, in case you were wondering.)
WHY IT WORKS:
Who doesn’t want to mix two favorite loves: books and beverages?
BRING HOME THE LOOK:
Stack books on a cocktail table like this one or this one or this one (all Jill faves). Art books specifically, or design based books. Large scale, full of images more than writing. “When someone picks up the book, I'd rather a conversation start from an image and someone's take on it instead of a guest starting to lose focus on the conversation by delving into the written words.”
